I’ve been tagged!
Can I say that I am stoked to be posting my first blog tag? I didn’t even know this was a thing. But it certainly is and it’s rather fun.
I was tagged to do the Season of Books blog tag by The Orang-utan Librarian. Thanks for the tag, that was sweet of you.
Here goes: a year of books. Beginning in December, as that was when I was tagged.
December is a time when friends and families come together and celebrate. Name one book you would give as a gift.
I would love to give my mom almost any of Lynn Austin’s books. Particularly, I think she would really love A Light to my path. It’s right up her alley.
January begins a new year. Name a resolution you made this year and if you’ve kept it or not!
Well…it’s December…so how about a New Year’s resolution I want to make? I’m turning 30 this year, so I have some goals. 1) Lose 30 pounds. 2) Play guitar more often. 3) Get my first MS published, or at least start the process.
February is the month for relationships. Name your favorite book relationship: romantic, platonic, or familial, your choice!

March is the month for luck and new beginnings. Name a book or series that you would like to re-experience as if you’d never read it.
I honestly don’t know how to answer this one. Almost every series I have read has had a disappointing ending…I suppose if I had to read it again for the first time It would have to be the Fingerprint series by Melinda Metz. Loved that series as a teen.
April is a spectacularly ordinary month. Name a book that was so over-hyped that it just could not live up to your expectations.
This is going to sound horrible, so don’t hate me, but I REALLY don’t like Goodnight Moon. It’s a stupid, boring poem when it comes to children’s books, It doesn’t even rhyme. (Not that poems have to rhyme, but it irritates me that it rhymes sometimes and not other times. Did I mention that it’s super boring??
May is the month when the flowers start to bloom. Name a book that was a pleasant surprise to you.
Claiming the cowboy’s heart was a nice surprise. It’s a bit slow getting into, but it turned out to be one of my favorites by the end. I plan to do a book review of it soon.
June is the time to take a break. Name a book or genre that you like to read when you just need to check out.
Sometimes an easy read like a quick YA action adventure is a great way to just chill out. I don’t have to think too hard and I don’t stay up half the night analyzing the book.
The Noah Winters adventure series is a great, fun and easy read.
July is the time to celebrate your independence! Name a book that made you see fireworks. (Figuratively. Please don’t light books on fire.
That’s a vague prompt. Figurative fireworks in what manner? I suppose the book with the most exciting love story that I’ve ever read had to be between Emerald Fire by Hallee Bridgeman an A Will and A Way by Nora Roberts. Both stories involved complicated relationship issues. Each of the characters’ love for another ran deep, and strong, physically and beyond. Both stories dealt with deep emotional struggles we all have when we’re entering into a relationship; am I really in love? what if this is not the right relationship? I shouldn’t be in love because (insert own rationale).
August is the hottest month of the year. Pick an up-and-coming author that you think will be the next hottest thing.
I don’t particularly keep track of new authors. But if I had to pick one, I am sincerely enjoying Amanda Tru’s time traveling, romance suspense series. If she keeps writing exciting book series such as this one, then she could really make a name for herself in the christian fiction genre.
September is time for students to go back to school! Pick a book you read for school that you actually enjoyed.
Sophomore year we had to do a book report for AP English and we had a huge 100 book list to choose from. I chose The Three Musketeers, which was wonderfully fun to read, though the language is heavy. I am a huge fan of The The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo. Though I tried to read Man in the Iron Mask and couldn’t get through it 🙁
October is time to celebrate Halloween! Pick one character that you would love to dress up as for Halloween.
I’ve always wanted to dress up as dorathy from Wizard of Oz. I have the curly hair, I’d just have to dye it red.
November is the month when we’re reminded of how much we have to be thankful for. Choose one book you’re grateful for having read and give a shout-out to the person who recommended it!
Esperanza rising was a beautiful surprise and I’m glad I read it. It had a beautiful, simple message to it and a look into lives I’m unfamiliar with. My only complaint is that it was a novella! I wanted it to keep going. I wish I could just write the rest of the story of the lives of the characters myself. My husband recommended it, and we don’t always have the same taste in genre. So, thank you babe.
